Why I Became a Photographer: My Story

People often ask me what led me to photography, especially since I started my career in nursing. The truth is, my journey into becoming a family photographer wasn’t something I planned — it was something I felt. Looking back, there was one small but unforgettable moment that changed everything.

The Moment That Changed Everything

I was 19, babysitting for a sweet family. As I walked through their home, I noticed the walls were filled with framed portraits — not stiff poses, but genuine moments: kids mid-laugh, a tender embrace, a quiet connection. Their home felt alive.

That simple scene stirred something deep in me. I realized I had never been photographed like that myself. The only framed photographs of me growing up were the typical yearly school photos — the kind where you sit, smile, and move on. There were no images capturing the real, in-between moments. No portraits that told the story of who I was or the love around me… That moment stayed with me for years.

Mom, if you’re reading this — no hard feelings.

Photography That Feels Like Home

Even as I worked 12-hour shifts as a nurse, I kept returning to that thought— that everyone deserves to see themselves in their story. To feel important. To feel loved. Photography has the power to root us, to preserve love, and to help people feel seen. It wasn’t about taking photos just to have them. It was about capturing connection, emotion, and memory.

Now, as a family photographer serving Fairfield County, New Haven County, and Coastal Connecticut, I bring that same heart into every session. Whether I’m capturing the quiet anticipation of motherhood, the cozy chaos of life with littles, or the bond between generations, I do it with care and intention.

Your photographs should live in your hands — and on your walls — where they can remind you every day:
You belong. You matter. You are home.

Creating Tangible Memories That Last

When clients walk into their homes and see their portraits — in a handcrafted album or beautifully framed on the wall — something powerful happens. It’s no longer just a photo. It’s a feeling. It becomes part of their story, and their space.

This is why I don’t just deliver digital galleries and call it a day.
I help you bring your images to life in tangible, lasting ways — the kind your children will grow up seeing daily. The kind that says: You belong. You are home.

Let’s Tell Your Story
