When to Take your Maternity Photos

You might be wondering when’s the best time to take your maternity photos. It is generally recommended to take your photos when you are between 28 to 34 weeks. Here are some things to consider before scheduling your session.

All About the Bump

Typically a mom wants her bump to be visible in the photos. Your bump is the star of the session and by the 3rd trimeter ( 28 to 34 weeks), your belly is rounded and prominent, making this timeframe the best for capturing and preserving this special time! Envision yourself in the maternity dress or gown you’d want to wear to showcase your bump.

You’re Still Comfortable

As you enter your third trimester, you will most likely still have enough energy to move around during your maternity photo session and hopefully symptoms such as nausea and vomiting have subsided. Don’t worry if you’re still not feeling your best, we will take breaks and proceed with caution during your session.

Early Arrival

Scheduling your maternity photo session before 34 weeks ensures you’ll capture your pregnancy even if your baby decides to arrive early.

Your Plans

When planning your maternity photo session, keep in mind if you will want to use the images for your baby shower. Once your photos are ready, we will plan a day to review your photos and select your favorites and create your artwork. We want to ensure all of this is done before baby’s arrival.

Whether this is your first pregnancy or an addition to your growing family, planning your maternity photoshoot will ensure a beautiful keepsake that you will treasure for years to come.
